The history of Balmoral dates back to the 1300s when King Robert II of Scotland had a hunting lodge there. Shortly after being married, Victoria and Albert began to enjoy time in Scotland and Albert acquired Balmoral in 1852. The young couple soon began planning the large estate castle that was complete in 1856. Albert enjoyed hunting game on the land, Victoria enjoyed long walks. This porcelain interpretation is a hunting lodge that they used while the castle was being built and later became one of the cottages on the poroerty. Checkered painitng inspired by tartan plaid, antlers above the door, stone from surrounding grounds and regal turrets characterize the lodge. Charm: Archery bows in the back. A quiver filled with arrows at the front door.
